Saudi Arabia Commissions Domingo Zapata to Create the Largest Mural Ever Produced

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia 02/17/2026. Internationally acclaimed contemporary artist Domingo Zapata has been commissioned by the Saudi Ministry of Culture to create what is projected to be the largest mural ever produced.

The monumental work will span approximately 50,000 square meters (540,000 square feet) — nearly nine football fields — in Riyadh. Scheduled to take four to six months to complete, the mural is designed to be visible from space, marking a historic moment in large-scale public art.

Zapata, known for his vibrant compositions and fusion of classical references with contemporary pop iconography, has exhibited internationally and is recognized for executing ambitious, large-format works. This project represents a defining milestone in his career and sets a new benchmark for public art worldwide.
